Thanks for joining me for another Nine Favorite Things post.
{my favorite little guy}
Happiest Sunday everyone! Excited to be sharing yet another favorite’s post today. I can’t tell you guys how much I am loving writing these posts. I write so much about food, that it’s fun to talk with you guys about my other interests, and what’s happening in my life outside of cooking…
Speaking of which, my mom’s entire side of the family was in town this past week, and for some of them, this was the very first time they’d been out to visit us in Colorado. Everyone stayed with my parents, so it was quite a packed house. They did one carry out dinner, but for the rest, I made my guacamole’s, salsa’s, and Friday night pasta dish all from the HBH cookbook. I also made carnitas…and a few too many cakes. Even though I was pretty busy, it was really great getting to see everyone, and I’m so glad they finally made the trip out. Can’t wait to see them all again soon, but next time back in Cleveland, for the Indian’s Home Opener. My brother Red is throwing out the first pitch, so my entire family will be headed back to Ohio. Can’t wait.
Coming up on the blog this week, I’m sharing some of my favorite recipes of the month, a new Mediterranean recipe, a very springy tart, and one of my favorite cakes. I’ll also be sharing a new studio barn post, so be on the look out for that! In the meantime, enjoy today’s favorites and check out my menu for the week below!
1. Inspiring me this Week.
Julia Engel of Gal Meets Glam: I started following Julia about a year ago on Instagram and I have quickly become so inspired by her. Not only has she created a gorgeous blog, she’s built a brand that is truly inspirational. From her beautifully laid out Instagram, to her detailed travel posts and guides, to her make-up tips and tricks, to her daily emails that have you excitedly checking your inbox, to the start of her own dress line, Gal Meets Glam Collection. Julia is truly doing it all, and with so much passion. She built Gal Meets Glam from the bottom up and I am so inspired by her work ethic, authenticity, and passion. And I of course love seeing her gorgeous photos of the blooming spring flowers. If you haven’t yet checked out Gal Meets Glam, I’d take an hour or two this Sunday to scroll through what has become their site, as Julia’s husband Thomas joined her full time a few years back in their successful venture. It’s simply gorgeous and the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Hello, love your blog and all the posts but specially the ‘nine favourite things’ ones! I am from Portugal and we don’t get a lot of snow here so I am not onto the winter olympics a lot but this year I watched it knowing that you litlle brother would be there and it felt like I knew your family 🙂
I follow your posts for a few years and it is an inspiration. Your photos are amazing. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much Maria! I love that you supported my brother and continue to follow my blog! It is so sweet to hear!
Your dog is so gorgeous!!! What kind of dog is it?? Also, I need to make those brownies, they instantly made my mouth water! 🙂
Hi Heather! He is a mini Australian Shepherd.. but they recently renamed the American Shepherds. I hope you love the brownies. Let me know how they turn out for you! Thanks!
LOVED stumbling upon your favorites for this week! I, too, have recently discovered Julie from GMG. My husband and I are currently traveling (we moved into a motor home — call us crazy!) and are in Charleston for 3.5 weeks. It would be so neat to run into her and her husband doing some photo sessions around town! Fingers crossed. 🙂 Anyway, I’m wondering if you would do a post (or maybe you have already and I haven’t found it…) on learning more about your as a food blogger. What tips and recommendations do you have for getting started? How do you stay focused for your work day (without browsing on everyone else’s feeds/instagrams/websites) and where/how do you allocate your free time? I’m trying to get started and have realized that my biggest struggle is just getting started (and losing motivation because of what the blog is NOT so far). I have thought about Food Blogger Pro (which you seem to be an advocate of) to give me more direction. I’m sorry for the ramble, but I’m hoping you can shed some light. I truly admire your work, dedication, and the art of what you do. I can tell you’re a beautiful soul, which is why I love following you. Thank you for being authentic! 🙂
Wow that is so fun! I will look into doing a post about that, Danielle! I am so glad you are enjoying my recipes and photos, that seriously is why I love blogging! Thank you!
That would be awesome! Thanks for considering it. 🙂
Confession…I’ve made the 8 ingredient brownies with Bailey’s twice in the last week!
I am so glad you’re enjoying them!! No shame in making them twice a week.. totally would do the same haha! Thank you Angela!
Hey Tieghan,
Hapky Sunday and I hope you had a nice time with your mom’s family. The spring flowers look beautiful and I like your Easter ideas. I made my mom your spring Buddha bowl tonight and she loved it. 🙂 Thank you! Maybe I’ll make her your sweet potato and salmon soba noodle bowl tomorrow? I’m looking forward to your tart recipe! Haha and more cake recipes. 🙂 Do you have any (or have thought of doing any) cake or muffin recipes with lemon curd and elderflower or coconut? I feel like those would be a good combination.
Also, that’s nice that you’re able to channel your anxiety through HBH (and hopefully the new studio barn!). Maybe the new space will help with that too and be a good place to relax and let your creativity go wild.
I’m looking forward to this weeks posts and hope all is well.
Hi Kristin! Thank you, I had an amazing time with my mom’s side of the family! I am so glad your mom enjoyed the Buddha bowl! Thank you!!
I just want to say how much I love your website. As a photographer, I love the photos but all the recipes have been a success. At the beginning of each week I chose 3-4 to try. My family thanks you because we are no longer eating the same boring stuff.
Awh that is amazing! Thank you Jennifer, I hope you continue to love my recipes!
Aww I love your blog name! I originally thought the meaning behind ”Half Baked Harvest” came from half the recipes being categorized into baking and the other half into more savory cooking, though! Thanks for being one of my favorite food blogs to follow 🙂
Thank you so much Lauren! I am so glad you are enjoying the recipes I share and I hope you continue to!
You mentioned a new banana bread recipe in your Friday post -is it forthcoming?
Not in the next month, but possibly in April! Please let me know if you have other questions. Hope you love this recipe! Thanks! 🙂
Have you ever heard of the Gilmore Guys podcast? I also love Gilmore Girls, and this podcast is one of my favorite things ?
I have not.. but I totally need to check that out!
I’ll be at the Indian’s Home opener too! We’ll be cheering on Red. Try the Spaghetti and Meatballs pizza at Dante’s inside Progressive Field. Very unique and very tasty.
That is so exciting! Thank you Ben!
Hi, I’m french (so sorry for my English) and I’m following you still one year!! And I really love your recipes, your blogs and all the beautiful pictures you’re taking.
I also want to congrats you for your book, I received him 3 days before for my birthday and it’s really an amazing work :). So thank you for all, and continue make us dreaming of beautifuls flavors !!! 😉
Thank you so much Léa! I am so glad you enjoy my recipes and the book especially! Let me know what you make from it! ?
I have always put salt on my watermelon (and most melons in general). It now translates over to my races and it’s my go to fuel to keep my salt intake balanced. 🙂
I’m also dreaming of spring flowers. I’m staying my aunt at the moment and her garden is amazing and starting to come back to life after a hard winter. Super excited to make some meals inspired by them 🙂
I bet that is so pretty to watch her garden coming back and starting to grow again! Thank you Jessica!
Glad I stumbled upon your site months ago, one of the few I read every word besides the recipes. Charming and refreshing, it is! Inspired/inspiring recipes accompanied by artfully curated photography. And, knowing that Red is your brother made Olympics watching even more fun. Thanks for sharing your talents and life with us.
Thank you so much Betsy! I am so glad you enjoy my blog and what I write about!
YAY! Gilmore Girls forever, haha.
YES!
I have been staring at your featured photo of your doggy for ten minutes. It is sooo beautiful! Amazing that you are a self-taught photographer, this gives me hope.
And your brownies look so good, I will have to try them soon!
Thank you so much Jenny! I hope you love these brownies!
